Each month we feature a different local cultural attraction on our website. Walton residents can visit the featured attraction of the month with their family members, and Walton will reimburse them 90% of the ticket price for admission!



Yellow River Game Ranch
Stroll along a mile-long trail on 24 wooded acres and encounter over 600 highly sociable birds and animals indigenous to the state of Georgia. White-tailed deer, bunnies, buffalo, sheep, kid goats, black bears and a bevy of newborn animals are waiting to be fed, admired and petted on a “nose to nose” basis. The Yellow River Game Ranch specializes in “people-friendly” wildlife. Located just 2 ½ miles east of Stone Mountain on Hwy. 78, the Yellow River Game Ranch offers a magnificent photo opportunity and a day of fun and learning.
Open 7 days a week, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Tellus Science Museum
Tellus is a world-class 120,000 square foot museum in Cartersville just off I-75 at exit 293. The museum’s exhibits open minds and ignite a passion for science. Tellus features four main galleries: The Weinman Mineral Gallery, the Fossil Gallery, Science in Motion and the Collins Family ‘My Big Backyard’. A 120-seat digital planetarium and an observatory with a state of the art 20-inch telescope is also located at Tellus. Eye-popping exhibits like an 80-foot long Apatosaurus and a replica Wright flyer excite and amaze visitors of all ages. Children will have a blast conducting hands-on experiments with light, sound, magnets and more.

The Morris Museum of Art
The Morris Museum of Art, located on the Riverwalk in downtown Augusta, is the first museum dedicated to the art and artists of the American South. The collection includes holdings of nearly 5,000 paintings, works on paper, photographs and sculptures dating from the late 18th century to the present. In addition to the permanent collection galleries, the museum hosts eight to ten special exhibitions every year.
Featured June 14-September 28: Art from the Collection of Jonathan Green and Richard Weedman.
Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10-5; Sunday Noon-5. Closed Mondays.

Augusta Museum of History
Visit the region’s home for history. Featured are a number of permanent exhibitions, include the award-winning Augusta’s Story – a 12,000-year journey through local history, a restored 1917 steam locomotive, special exhibits that include The Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown, the Sport of Golf and much more.
